I went to a conference on Thursday that was focused on women in leadership.  They had different backgrounds, both professionally and personally.  These women were passionate, driven, successful in their careers, and genuinely enjoyed their work.  Another major commonality among them: they were the household breadwinners.  Most either had a stay-at-home husband or were single/divorced.  There wasn’t much of a spectrum when it came to the household.

One Year Along!

One Year Along!

It has already been about a year since I thought up my blog, created a domain, and wrote a word doc list of over 80 ideas for posts I wanted to write. I spent last summer typing away, ending up with 40 ready-to-publish posts and over 100 more ideas on my list, before going live in September.  I wanted to take a moment to share that I’m grateful to all of you who are on this journey with me, and to those who have helped me along!  I love finding my site randomly mentioned, sharing ideas, and especially interacting with all of you through comments and social media.

Happy Earth Day (on April 22)!  It was founded by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970.  His goal was to channel the energy inspired by the student anti-war movement, and 20 million Americans from various backgrounds rallied together in protest of the way the environment was being treated.  In honor of Earth Day and the environment, consider adding a new plant to your desk, whether it’s in an office or in your home.

Thoughts on Resorts and Theme Parks

I’m a huge advocate for exploring the local culture when you travel and getting away from the tourist traps, including resorts and theme parks.  Going out to explore gives you a chance to see how people live and learn about humanity.  However, I also really enjoy visiting resorts and attractions close to me.  The trick is to minimize spending and maximize fun.
